Kharkhorin Naadam Festival, July 2026. Setup crew for the Mongolian Horseback Archery Federation before the event, then interpreter through the competition days.

Naadam (Наадам) is Mongolia's national festival — wrestling, horse racing, archery. Kharkhorin sits on the site of Karakorum, the thirteenth-century Mongol imperial capital, in Övörkhangai Province.
Built the riding track, placed targets to Federation regulation, raised the judges' tent and spectator area, and set up the timing equipment for competitors' runs. Handled horse transport logistics and built out the athletes' village and rider rest area.

Russian into English and Mandarin Chinese, on the track through setup and competition days and in meetings off it. Russian is the working second language for much of the Federation's older leadership. The visiting athletes were Chinese-speaking.

I also compete in the sport — horseback archery.
